As a child I went to a lot of banquets. These were teetotal affairs - my father was a Lutheran minister. The Doxology (Praise God from whom all blessings flow…) was sung and quiet requested by tapping a coffee cup with a spoon. The photograph we have re-enacted is of the first open air banquet of the "Melon Hat Club" in Glendale, California. It was taken around 1930 - (during Prohibition). More...
