Fanfare for Crossing the Road

Ann-Marie LeQuesne invites you to cross the road

Saturday May 21, 2011 - 1pm

Please come to the crossing in front of the Albert Hall.

We will gather at 12.45 on the Albert Memorial side of the road.

Crossing will begin at 1pm.

Fanfare for Crossing the Road is an international project that will add ceremony to a common event. In each country, I will ask musicians to mimic as closely as possible the sounds of the particular acoustic crossing (different in every country). I will dress the musicians in uniforms and position them beside the crossing lights to amplify these digital signals with analogue ones. I will invite people to gather at the lights to cross at the appropriate time. So participants will be a mixture of people who simply want to cross the road and those who have come to participate in the performance.

Fanfares will take place in Helsinki and Lisbon in September 2011.
